Smithers Pira will be presenting seminars during the show at the NEC in October and November 2017.
Rob Fisher, event director of Ipex said: ‘We are delighted that Smithers Pira has agreed to share its insight into the technology and market trends that will shape the printing industries over the next few years.’
To mark the partnership the two organisations shared figures from Smithers Pira’s report ‘The Future of Global Printing to 2020’, which estimated that the UK print market was worth £23 billion in 2015. It predicted that print volumes are set to reduce -1.7% year on year, from 1.7 trillion A4 sheets equivalent in 2015, to 1.6 trillion A4 sheets equivalent in 2020, but with ‘higher value’ jobs compensating for declining volume.
The research firm’s data predicts relative market shares for print processes and applications will change significantly from 2015-2020.
‘In the UK, applications like packaging and labels will take share from more established markets such as book, magazines, and commercial print,’ said Adam Page, global director, reports and consultancy at Smithers Pira. ‘As this occurs it will create opportunities for print service providers.’
