Rapidity’s managing director, Paul Manning.
Central London digital print firm Rapidity has signed a deal with media production house Tapestry to take over its wide format printing business.
Under the deal, which becomes effective on the 1 August, Tapestry’s wide format print department will transfer to Rapidity’s 1400 m/sq site in Clerkenwell.
Six staff and equipment including Durst Lambda photo printing and Canon ImageProGraf Giclee printing equipment, will transfer. They will join Rapidity’s wide format division, which operates Canon Océ Arizona flatbed printing and Esko Kongsberg cutting.
It is expected that the deal will result in synergies. Tapestry’s wide format division has to date specialised in gallery, museum and retail customers. These will now have access to Rapidity’s direct to substrate flatbed printing and contour cutting, while the company’s clients gain access to photo quality printing, especially one of the few remaining Lambda machines. There will also be cross selling beyond the wide format parts of the businesses, with Rapidity offering its clientele the full range of Tapestry services including artworking, design, creative retouching, photography, video and pre press. Tapestry will offer Rapidity’s digital printing and creative finishing.
‘This acquisition is part of our long term strategy to exploit our central London location,’ said Rapidity managing director Paul Manning. ‘We are delighted to add Tapestry’s expertise to our team and look forward to offering their customers a wider range of products while offering their services to our clients.’
Tapestry managing director Tony Garrett added: ‘We look forward to working with Rapidity. It is also exciting for our clients, who will hopefully benefit from Rapidity’s print services.’
