American product decoration specialist bought for growth plan.

Engineered Printing Solutions (EPS) supplies customised and bespoke equipment for printing onto objects in sectors including promotional products, packaging, medical, automotive, clothing, appliances, sports equipment and toys. Its machines use both analogue and digital printing techniques, including inkjet. In 2015 the 60-staff firm had sales of $14m.

The purchase of the firm is the first made under Xaar’s recently announced strategy to increase revenue to £220m by 2020.

‘The product printing market is served by multiple print processes today and the fastest growing is inkjet’, said Doug Edwards, CEO of Xaar. ‘Here, just as with other industry sectors, there is great potential to accelerate the adoption of inkjet.’

Julian Joffe, who founded EPS in 1985, has been appointed as Xaar’s new President of Engineered Printing Solutions.

‘Xaar values our engineering capability and innovative solutions,’ said Mr Joffe. ‘Xaar brings deep knowledge of inkjet technology and access to wider channels.’
