Graphtec’s new i-Mark automatic digital die cutter
Supplier of flatbed plotter and cutters, Graphtec has added to its portfolio with a new i-Mark machine suitable for a range of print and cut applications, including short-run label production, digital prints and packaging.
Graphtec GB’s new automatic digital die cutter is based on the Graphtec CE6000-40 plotter/cutter and i-Mark hardware and software and can handle sheets of material of varying thicknesses and in sizes ranging from A4 up to Super A3 (330 x 483 mm). Particularly suited to short-run label printing, the die cutting is carried out automatically by the machine, eliminating the need for users to purchase expensive dies.
Depending on the thickness of the material being processed, the die cutter can handle up to 120 sheets of material in a continuous cycle, with the ability to add further sheets as required without interrupting the cutting process.
The compact footprint of the cutter enables it to be mounted to a table as small as 60 x 67 cm. Perfect sheet alignment is achieved via crop mark reading for each individual sheet, with a camera equipped with i-Mark technology performing the crop mark adjustments in a fraction of a second. Software algorithms compensate for any distortion from the printing process to enable precise cutting with minimal bleed. There is also an option to cut perforated lines during file creation. Average cutting speed is 30-40 seconds for each sheet and heavier material cutting is possible on board up to 350 gsm.
