Kodak’s unified workflow general manager Allan Brown
Kodak has committed to deploying its Prinergy workflow as a cloud-based system and will launch a workflow for digital presses that it claims is set to become an industry standard. By Barney Cox at drupa media week in Düsseldorf.
‘Cloud is becoming standard in the software industry and we plan to use it to liberate print processes,’ said unified workflow general manager Allan Brown. ‘It is extremely important because the cost, complexity and risk of upgrading software is currently a non-productive process that we want to eliminate.’
Customers will be able to choose whether to use a cloud-based or more conventional locally hosted model although cloud-based features such as automatic ganging ‘in the blinkof an eye’ and automated job archiving would provide significant benefits.
A new digital print workflow will be offered to drive partners machines including Ricoh, Konica Minolta, Komori and Landa. In particular it highlighted a close integration with Ricoh’s Total Flow system.
