AG/CAD has had a recent double success, with installations of its DYSS digital cutting machines at Print-2-Media in Cornwall and Cumberland Packaging in Essex.
Print-2-Media has invested in a DYSS X7-1624C system to complement its Fuji, Roland and HP large format printers, which have a maximum print format of 1.5 by 3 metres. This diversity enables it to print on all types of media, producing everything from stickers and posters through to PoS and shop signage.
There has been a surge in production of foamex, Di-bond and acrylic signage, which the company had difficulty cutting by hand. A full review of the CNC cutting table market resulted in the purchase of a DYSS X7-1642C with K-Cut vision system and KASEMAKE software from AG/CAD in February 2015.
Director Glenn Wrigley said the investment has eliminated subcontracting costs, shortened lead-times and improved product quality. It also immediately brought 20% growth to the business as it no longer needed to turn work away. This equates to bringing in an additional £3000 to £5000 of business each month.
From a technology standpoint, Mr Wrigley said the three tool station ‘Super Head’ on the system, with the capacity to accommodate routing, knife, creasing and kiss cut tools without manually changing over the tools, was proving to be very useful.
‘This enables us to use the router to create ‘location holes’ for the K-Cut Vision system if required. We can also use the knife and creasing tools for producing our corrugated boxes. The K-Cut registration system is outstanding and will pick up any pre-defined point and orientate the job according to the datum points, which we now print on all our jobs. This ensures every job is 100% accurate and free from operator error.’
As the company produces signage for agricultural events, Print-2-Media has been making excellent use of the 3D environment modelling software feature within KASEMAKE, giving Print-2-Media the ability to mock-up exhibition stands for customers.
Meanwhile, Cumberland Packaging has invested in a DYSS X7 multi-head die cutting table from AG/CAD to reduce its lead times and increase its design capabilities. The Essex manufacturer of corrugated cartons and boxes acquired its first AG/CAD cutting table over 12 years ago, so when it came to upgrading its plant list, the company opted for another machine from AG/CAD.
The purchase is instantly delivering sample and prototype lead-time reductions of 50%, a huge benefit for the internal sales team and potential customers alike. Additionally, foam inserts manufactured for some packaging formats are processed 80% faster with the new DYSS X7.
