Chris Pinborough (centre) is congratulated by Charles Jarrold of the BPIF and Rebecca Lambrianou of Webmart.
Chris Pinborough, manufacturing manager at Ancient House Press, has been chosen as the first winner of the BPIF’s first Kathy Woodward Award for Learning.
The award, sponsored by Webmart, is intended to support individuals in the print, packaging and graphic design industries to further their careers. It was launched in July in memory of the BPIF’s former chief executive Kathy Woodward, who sadly passed away a year previously
A recent BPIF Level 5 Management Programme graduate, Mr Pinborough said: ‘I feel incredibly humble and proud to have won. Kathy was a true ambassador for print, and her philosophy to develop staff for the future is something I aim to achieve at a more local level.
‘I plan to invest the money on my fees for the BPIF MSc Management course which starts in October, a course I am very much looking forward to. The Level 5 Management Programme was such a success and I am sure this course will continue in the same vein.’
He received the £1000 award from current BPIF chief executive Charles Jarrold and Webmart representative, Rebecca Lambrianou at the BPIF’s offices in London.
Webmart’s Simon Biltcliffe congratulated Mr Pinborough, saying: ‘Chris had shown a lifelong appetite to invest his time and money in self-development. Such a desire to progress and improve is commendable and it is fantastic to be involved with supporting talent within our industry.’
Charles Jarrold added: ‘Kathy Woodward’s passion was training and the development of people into the best they can be. It is very fitting that this award goes to Chris, whose application showed his obvious ambition and determination to continue learning throughout his career. We wish him all the best with his MSc Management course.’
