Narrow and large format coated films manufacturer Kernow Coatings has been awarded a significant grant from the European Regional Development Fund.
The £380,000 contribution will help towards a £960,000 investment in a new coating machine that will reduce product development cycle time and increase manufacturing capacity, enabling the company to deliver innovative products reliably for customers.
‘Kernow Coatings celebrated 40 years of innovation at the end of 2014,’ said director Peter Newell. ‘We have enjoyed significant growth over the years and particularly in the past ten. With this new coating technology, made possible in part by the ERDF, Kernow Coatings looks forward to even greater growth by expanding its product lines and its markets.’
Kernow Coatings has operations spread across three locations in Cornwall, as well as a subsidiary in the USA, and it exports a substantial proportion of sales to North America. The ERDF investment has assisted in making a commercial case for investment in Cornwall, safeguarding and creating employment in Penryn.
