Point of Sale (POS) producer SMP Group placed an order at FESPA 2015 for the new Onset R50i, the latest addition to the Inca Onset wide format printer range.

Mark Turner, director of digital print at SMP Group, commented, ‘UV technology is at the heart of our digital print production. We embraced industrial flatbed printing 12 years ago and became the first company in the world to print with a fine picolitre drop size at industrial speed. We work with some of the largest retailers and brands in Europe and they demand the highest quality and accurate print results. The investment in the Inca Onset R50i is the result of an expansion project and part of our ongoing commitment to increase productivity, enhance quality and ultimately deliver the greatest value to customers.’

He continued, ‘We are always on the lookout for the most advanced printing devices that can improve our performance and the Inca Onset R50i will be a great addition to our digital production fleet. We are impressed by the perfect balance between speed and quality offered by the machine, and the 14 picolitre drop size delivers detailed, high resolution images. The 3.2 x 1.6 m bed will also allow us to lay and print three sheets at the same time, increasing our productivity.’

Mr Turner concluded, ‘We are really excited about the investment in an Onset R50i as it will further enhance our market position and mark the beginning of a long partnership with Fujifilm and Inca Digital, as we expand our presence even further in the industrial print sector.’

The Onset R50i wide format flatbed UV printer features fine-drop 14 picolitre Fujifilm Dimatix Spectra printheads and eight channels (double CMYK configuration) to deliver superb quality and 600 m2/hr productivity. The high-end flatbed device prints an apparent resolution of 1000 dpi onto substrates up to 50 mm thick.
