After investment in six Palamides Sima 220 Automatic Tray Filler units, it is safe to say that REAL Digital is a big fan of the mail production kit.
The company has four already installed and in production, and another two on order to be delivered soon by Friedheim International.
Barry Stephens, production director, ‘On learning about Palamides’ new Sima 220 I visited the German Security Printer fiducia to assess the equipment’s potential and I was immediately convinced that I had found the right solution to enhance REAL Digital’s production capabilities.
As the Sima 220 collects the envelopes, it separates the mail by postcode areas and places the individual items automatically into the trays. As a result, the speed of the enclosing line can be increased. At the end, the tray ticket printer prints the matching ticket for this tray at the exit point. This means that one operator is able to run the enclosing lines at full speed as the Sima 220 is capable of running at 24,000 pieces per hour. It is the perfect solution for all high speed inserters.
‘What was particularly impressive was that one operator was easily able to run the enclosing line, including delivery, at a speed above 15,000 pieces per hour,’ continued Mr Stephens. ‘The whole machine concept was sound and provided the operator with a structured and straightforward working method.’
The unit can perform tray changes in under two seconds. This is beneficial in mailing operations that manage numerous small postcode areas that require a lot of tray changes. The Sima 220 can process up to 2000 trays per hour.
