Keeping the print flag flying high: Print Efficiently increased footfall by a third

Print Efficiently 2014 has drawn to a close, and according to its core partners the show has been a big success, with increased footfall and impressive sales

The show’s attendance grew by around a third compared to the 2013 figure, with over 200 companies registering in advance and a significant number of unregistered visitors arriving on each of the show’s six days.

Apex managing director, Bob Usher, said, ‘Apex has taken orders of well over £1 million at Print Efficiently 2014; this included a Ryobi press with LED-UV, but we also had orders and enquiries across our entire product range including Konica Minolta digital equipment and Screen CTP.’

He continued, ‘Print Efficiently is now well established as an annual event, and continues to go from strength to strength. The show format is popular among visitors, as they can see the latest technology in a relaxed environment and gather the latest industry ideas while they are here, not just by viewing equipment but also by participating in a seminar or networking with like-minded people. Collaborative events like this are the way forward for suppliers and customers alike.’

The show’s other core partner, IFS, also reports a highly successful show with firm orders in excess of £250,000. The list of successful Horizon sales included two AF-406 folders, a BQ-280 PUR binder and a bookletmaking line, plus two Foliant Gemini laminators.

Joint managing director, Bryan Godwyn, said, ‘Customers from all over the UK from Scotland to the south coast came along, and the feedback was excellent. It was definitely the busiest Print Efficiently so far, which we think reflects both the popularity of the show but also a greater confidence in the industry at large.’

Renz returned to Print Efficiently after a two year absence and has also reported a successful show. Managing director Iain Bullock said, ‘PE2014 was very worthwhile; for instance we sold a Renz P500 E Heavy Duty Punch with 2 x punching dies, a Renz MOBI 500 automated spool fed wire binding machine with Renz KA 300 calendar hanger insertion amounting to an order worth £34,000 that we weren’t expecting, which came as a direct result of Print Efficiently. We love the informal format and being able to meet customers in an unhurried way.’

The 2014 event, which ran on 7-9 and 21-23 October was the fourth Print Efficiently. It featured 11 suppliers covering most aspects of commercial print from web to print, MIS, colour measurement and consumables, through to litho, digital and wide format print and a huge range of finishing processes. Daily seminars provided practical and impartial advice for the commercial printer. Partners included Apex, IFS, Vpress, Shuttleworth, CyanX, TSS, Colourbyte, Renz, PDC, KAS and Premier Paper.
