Xerox has added three new features to its CiPress production inkjet system; Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR), an in-line coating system and an ink measurement and proofing tool.
These enhancements can open a new set of applications, such as cheques, rebate coupons and financial forms, as well as more aesthetic, durable direct-mail pieces.
The MICR module can print up to 152 m/min on standard untreated stocks allowing white paper in, full colour cheque production. It enables field upgrades, allowing current users to expanding application opportunities for new customers and can print mixed applications in the same run with MICR and non-MICR jobs, eliminating the need for a dedicated MICR printer.
The in-line aqueous coating system enhances applications with a high-gloss overlay for artistic value and added endurance to create attention-grabbing direct-mail pieces. It delivers simplex or duplex coating in-line at full printer speeds, maximising productivity without the labour and movement of materials associated with offline coating. The system is compatible with a wide range of available commercial coating fluids and offset coated/uncoated media to deliver high impact pieces.
The CiPress ink measurement and proofing tool has been designed to pre-determine the cost of ink usage on a job or page basis for more precise job estimation. It can produce soft proofs of the printed output so jobs don’t have to run and be inspected on the press, improving workflow productivity.
