The sixth London Calling was held at the East Wintergarden, Canary Wharf
Duplo’s annual London Calling event took off with a great start as three sales were confirmed on the events opening morning, at the East Wintergarden, Canary Wharf, London.
Sales made on the first day included a Mitama layflat binder sold to Altaimage for photobook production and an iSaddle stitcher was sold to both Devon Press and Vernon Press.
Over 600 people had pre-registered for the show, held on 15-16 October, which is more than three times that of the previous year. More than 170 pre-registrations were attributed to the company’s front cover campaign with Digital Printer’s September issue.
Keeping the event fresh, the open house saw the inclusion of five new partners featuring in the workflow line up. The new partners include Antalis, LumeJet, Neopost, Optimus and Taopix and were all mentioned frequently in customer forums, prompting their inclusion. These companies took their place alongside established partners Balreed, Esko, Renz, Vivid and Vpress.
Sarah Crumpler, UK marketing manager, Duplo, said, ‘The initial response has been extremely positive. Our choice of partners was guided by the feedback from the customer forum. London Calling is not an event comprised of individual exhibitors, it is a group of companies collaborating to show how complementary technologies can be brought together.’
The company used the event to formally unveil new finishing systems launched during 2014. One of the major attractions will be the live showing of the Duplo iSaddle Duetto System, one of three new iSaddle systems; the fully automatic stitching system offers intelligent automated precision combined with PC controlled technology.
The iSaddle brings the advantages of flatter publications from the old-generation saddle stitchers and combines them with the automation of modern bookletmakers with many additional features including A4 landscape capability.
Building on an award-winning range of multifinishers the company also launched the DC- 616PRO, the DC-646 and the integrated folding system for the DC-646 models.
The DC-616 is an all-in-one solution for finishing standard short run jobs such as greeting cards, invitations, menus and 24 up business cards. It is able to slit, cut, crease and perforate bringing automation and greater efficiency to the finishing process.
The DC-646 is the latest variation of the DC-646PRO launched at IPEX replacing the DC-645i, the optional integrated folding system also being launched works without impacting the productivity of the multifinishers.
