Shuttleworth MIS recently invited customers from around the UK to a Commercial Print KPI Efficiency seminar to see its latest innovative developments.
Live demonstrations included the latest Dashboard technology which gives instant and tailored management information in the form of graphs, figures and charts.
Visitors were also introduced to the company’s comprehensive MIS business management package, covering all the key operations of a modern print company including e-commerce, native support for the latest versions of JDF/JMF capabilities, estimating, costing and CRM.
Other developments on display included the Job tracking functionality Milestones, this helps to view the status of any job as it progresses throughout the business. Also the latest Production Scheduling module, including the new option for automating the whole production planning process, was demonstrated as well as a new Mobile Stock App, which allows users to update stock transactions using a mobile device with bar code scanning if required.
There was demonstration from Matthew Peacock on how managing your information properly can have dramatic effects on the bottom line. Mr Peacock is a member of the Institute of Operations Management and has spent many years improving business efficiencies and profits, specifically in the printing industry. He demonstrated through a series of calculations how a 1% increase in overall equipment effectiveness productivity could see an increase in profit of around £13,000 per month, using a typical B1 litho press for his example.
Bryan Aplin, business development manager at Shuttleworth went on to explain to clients how Shuttleworth’s MIS reports KPI’s by tracking events such as nonconformities, machine efficiencies by booking actual costs for material and machine times. This information is instantly presented back in the form of graphs or figures so businesses can see where efficiency can be improved or where productivity can be increased.
Mr Aplin, said, ‘Every business needs to be aware of where and how it can improve efficiencies. By measuring KPI’s, that are individually designed for each business, the Shuttleworth MIS puts information at the heart of the decision making process, ensuring printers have the information they require to improve, grow and even make the correct investment decisions.’
