MV Print is undertaking a two for one folder replacement programme with the installation of the latest generation Stahlfolder CH 66 combination folder with a gatefold attachment.

This means that the Middlesbrough company, formed from the merger of Mags Laser and Vision Press two years ago, can bring outsourced work back in and enable its trade finishing side to offer a new service.

‘This is an upgrade. We have a buckle machine but we handle a lot of signature work and we prefer to use knives for these 8, 16 and 32 page sections. It also allows us to handle six panel concertinas and gatefolds for the first time,’ says Sean Maynard, one of the company’s four directors.

The operators are familiar with Stahlfolder technology and the new folder will run on a two shifts a day basis.

Some 95% of the work the two companies handled has been retained and business this year has expanded with a particularly strong May to July period.

The investment in folding capacity will be the company’s only spend this year but it is looking at major capital expenditure in 2015.
