The new biomass boiler will reduce the company’s carbon footprint

Bolloré Thin Papers has made a leap in the direction of sustainability with the addition of a new biomass boiler at its Papeteries des Vosges in Laval-sur-Vologne, France.

The construction of this new wood-fuelled boiler is in keeping with the company’s sustainable development approach and its energy conservation efforts which have been in place for several years now.

The boiler follows on from the success of the biomass boiler that was brought into operation at the Papeteries du Léman site in January 2013 which showed a 32% decrease in greenhouse gas emissions over the year in comparison with 2012.

‘Our new biomass boiler means that we can honour our sustainable development commitments while monitoring the changes in energy prices, therefore reducing costs as well as our carbon footprint’, said Bruno Delesque, sales and marketing director. ‘Prior to this, Papeteries des Vosges sourced its steam from the neighbouring industrial site, which operated on natural gas. Using wood seemed to be an optimal solution as a source of renewable energy.’
