Ipex continued to show case the best in printing innovation as day three of the print exhibition began in the Excel, London.
Once again the show invited visitors to learn and be inspired by the technology on offer and the informative seminars held throughout the day.
Cross Media Production was also open to visitors looking at using print in a multi-channel campaign. Starting off the day in the Brand Management Theatre, Andy Knaggs, editor, Cross Media and Digital Printer magazines, hosted a panel discussion on, developing transformation strategies from print to cross media.
Panel member Mark Cruise, head of print management, BskyB, said, ‘QR codes are familiar now to everybody and augmented reality is getting to that point too, but what these technologies, along with social media, have not proved yet is the drive to customer spend.’
Speaking about the future of how brands will be using print in a multi-channel campaign, Neil Crosier, 4H-UK, IT and creative solutions producers, said, ‘I expect that there will be a greater use of personalisation on print. The use of big data will continue to grow as brands are collecting more and more data, allowing them to make precise targeted campaigns to their customers.
Other highlights of the third day of Ipex included Rory Sutherland, executive creative director and vice chairman, OgilvyOne London and Ogilivy & Mather UK, delivering a keynote address on the evolving role of print for consumer marketing, and a seminar on practical strategies to protect profit margins from Nick Devine, publisher and founder of The Print Coach.

Konica Minolta
Konica Minolta has outlined beta testing for the KM1 inkjet press for this year with a launch of the press expected at the end of 2015.
Lumejet
LumeJet has entered a strategic partnership with Duplo, giving them access to Mitamax layflat book finishing equipment, for higher volumer production. The company has retained its partnership with Ashgate Automation, again for layflat booklet production, however, at a lower volume.
Xeikon
The first order for Xeikon’s Trillium liquid toner printer, has been made by a French company, TagG Informatique, which specialises in high quality direct mail and transactional print. Managing director, Herve Lesseur has described the technology as ‘a game changer’.
