London-based printer, Screaming Colour, has purchased the first motioncutter high speed digital laser system in the UK to create high quality print and finishing.
The motioncutter is a sheet fed laser system with a conveyor carrying the sheets under the laser head which cuts at up to six metres a second. It cuts, perforates and engraves all in one pass. The cutter includes a personalisation feature called Namecut, which can personalise a sheet by reading a CSV file of data and cutting or engraving the information.
‘Being able to offer our customers the latest technology to create stunning print and finishing has always been at the heart of our company,’ said Iain Moring, managing director. ‘From the very first moment we saw the capabilities of the motioncutter we knew we could increase our unique offerings to the market in cutting and perforation but also with beautiful engraving onto printed or coated stock. We can now even offer variable data finishing, making every sheet unique through the motioncutter’s Namecut feature.’
Themediahouse Gmbh, the German company who makes the motioncutter has had direct mail returns of up to 42% from direct mail campaigns using this new finishing application. ‘We are delighted to be working with Screaming Colour and look forward to installing their machine towards the end of April,’ said Shaun Stanley, global business development manager for themediahouse.
The motioncutter is the second piece in capital investment that Screaming Colour have made in the past couple of months following purchase of a Kolbus Casemaker DA260.
