Horizon’s new HT-1000V variable three knife trimmer is being shown for the first time in the UK at Ipex 2014 by Intelligent Finishing Systems.

Visitors to the stand at the Excel, London, 24-29 March 2014, will see how the trimmer delivers high quality variable short run and book of one production, of both untrimmed and trimmed sizes, up to 65 mm thick. Zero makeready on book trimming is just one of the production gains the unit offers

‘This solution has been developed to handle a broad print production demand from runs of one to runs of thousands,’ stated Bryan Godwyn, joint managing director. ‘With the commercial availability of high speed B2 inkjet presses and operations under greater pressure to offer flexibility with fast turnaround times, a system that can adapt to these demands and produce high quality results will help them gain the all-important competitive edge. It will also help them build in confidence to adopt more and more work.’

Highly automated, the trimmer is set-up automatically on the fly via a barcode. The system is capable of automatic set-up from the interface that enables intuitive operation and can fine tune adjustments. Up to 200 jobs can be memorised for repeat orders or special applications.

The machine can produce 1000 books per hour, depending on book condition and preparation of untrimmed books, while it can also be connected with the Horizon pXnet JDF workflow for finishing production efficiency and management.
