Service Graphics has installed a Mastercut Multi-Tech high speed, wide format automated flatbed cutting machine to increase speed and efficiency at its Skelmersdale site.

The new cutter incorporates a multi-tool head so both laser and blade cutters can be used on a single machine, and is designed to increase speed and efficiency during production of a wide range of digitally printed display materials.

The company prints onto a wide variety of formats including canvas, mesh and vinyl as well as paper and card, so they wanted a machine that is able to cope with all digital print substrates. Incorporating a multi-functional tool head reduces the floor space required for cutting and eliminates the need for a separate machine for each function.

The company previously finished large format prints by. The new high speed cutter is computer controlled which means it is not only faster but is far more accurate than hand cutting. Many of its display graphics are printed onto vinyl or polyester textiles, and as the laser simultaneously seals the edges of these materials, large banners can be completed without hemming or sewing.
