More than an entry level machine: Tecnograf’s ANT 150 PUR Hybrid perfect binder.
Friedheim International is selling a new fully automatic, single-clamp PUR perfect binding machine that it says is ideal for small job runs.
The Tecnograf ANT 150 PUR Hybrid runs at around 150 cycles per hour, and features an integrated PUR gluing system which the company claims provides better lay-flat and higher strength finished books.
Heavy coated papers or special papers used in digital printing and photo books are easily handled by the binder. Tecnograf has developed the machine for digital customers that require an entry level perfect binder that is simple to use and intuitive to handle.
As its name suggests, the Tecnograf ANT 150 is a ‘hybrid’ machine: for PUR, it uses simple roller application, but without the usual drawback of a reservoir tank. This means that cleaning is therefore simple and straightforward, and also means that you only use the glue that you need – even down to one book – thereby reducing waste. In addition, the binder also includes a dedicated hot-melt side glue unit, a feature not normally found in an entry-level machine.
It can handle book blocks made of single sheets, which are fed manually by the operator. Book covers are also fed one-at-a-time in the cover feeding/register station. After feeding of the book block, the spine is prepared for gluing through a roughening station specially designed for maximum fibre exposure and surface area for glue coverage and adhesion.
Minimum book size is 100 x 100 mm, with a maximum size of 350 x 420 mm. Minimum thickness is 3 mm, and maximum thickness (milled blocks) is 50 mm.
