The new flagship colour production press: Canon imagePress C7011VPS.
Canon has updated its complete portfolio of professional print products, with a new flagship colour production press, the imagePress C7011VPS, and a new monochrome portfolio. Its OcéPrismaprepare document make-ready software has also been updated.
The imagePress C7011VP and C7011VPS Series for commercial printers and in-house print departments incorporates new RIP technology in the form of the imagePress Server A7300 (powered by Creo), imagePress Server A3300, A2300 and A1300 (powered by EFI) and the imagePress Prismasync Server. The imagePress controller has also been enhanced.
The new workflow solutions also extend the finishing capabilities of the imagePress C7011VP and C7011VPS Series by making it compatible with more finishing devices. Colour management is improved with an updated version of the i1 Process Control tool, while updated engine firmware and an enhanced media catalogue, including new packaging and synthetic media, enables customers to consider new applications and business opportunities.
Monochrome is still strong and Canon has responded by launching three ranges of black and white production printers: the Canon varioPrint 135 series (previously known as the Océ VarioPrint DP Line) for the light to mid mono production market has new finishing options; the Canon imagePress 1135+ series for mid volume production, also with extended finishing options; and the Océ VarioPrint 6000+ Lines for high volume mono production, which has improved media handling and a sheet size up to 350 x 500 mm, making it attractive for book printers looking to move from offset to digital.
Version 6.1 of the Océ PRISMAprepare all-in-one document make-ready software has real-time status checking of print devices, and a variable data printing function, allowing users to add variable data, including text and images, to PDF files, which is particularly useful for applications such as business cards, direct mail or personalised training manuals. Another new feature is a ‘hot folder’ function, which enables users to manage multiple folders at a time and also associate them with pre-designed workflow templates.
Mark Lawn, UK & European marketing director, Professional Print, Canon Europe, said the company was aware that its portfolio of solutions had to evolve with the market. ‘We’re confident that this latest iteration of our portfolio, which centres on streamlining production, enhancing reliability and expanding finishing options, will help customers either to reinvigorate or continue to build their business.’
