At Labelexpo in Brussels, HP has announced a new silver ink for its HP Indigo WS6600 press, enabling the printing of high quality silver ink on digital print label and packaging applications.
Electroink Silver has been tested by Netherlands-based labels and packaging printer Geostick BV, whose technical director Cees Schouten said: ‘We are thrilled with the early results of the new HP Indigo silver ink. We have already sold labels printed with it to customers who readily accepted the results and were unable to detect any differences from conventionally printed silver ink. The new silver ink opens numerous new opportunities for us.’
Expected to be commercially available in early 2014, HP Indigo ElectroInk Silver is suitable for a range of label applications, including paint, automotive, household chemicals, beer and soft drinks.
Also demonstrated at Labelexpo have been new software and hardware solutions working alongside the company’s HP Indigo 20000 and 30000 presses. These additional components, which include AB Graphic’s Digicon 3000 label converter, the Tresu iCoat 30000 UV and aqueous selective coater, and Kama’s DC76 die-cutter and stripping and blanking unit, will ‘accelerate the transformation of folding cartons and flexible packaging’, the company said.
