Horizon’s responsive and cost-effective PUR perfect binding will be showcased in the company’s new entry level BQ280 at Print Efficiently 2013.
The annual event, now in its third year, will run for two weeks from 1 October, at Apex Digital Graphics’ showroom facility in Hemel Hempstead.
Based on the BQ270 automated single clamp perfect binder, new and updated features include a longer spine length at 385 mm and an enhanced milling motor.
It also includes a new chip cutter and wire brush, for improved spine preparation to accommodate PUR requirements and elevator delivery to lower the PUR books softly into the delivery.
The new machine also offers a separate EVA side glue tank, like its BQ470 four clamp stablemate, and automatic nipper height control from an icon based colour touchscreen.
The glue rollers are fixed, but height adjustable, while the tank, which is the same size as the BQ470’s, lowers to allow glue to be removed. Also, score pressure is adjustable above both scores.
Tony Hards, IFS joint managing director, commented, ‘The previous two Print Efficiently events at our Perivale showrooms have been very successful. Apex offers first class facilities and a great location for a convenient visit from printers around the country. It is a fantastic opportunity to get hands-on experience of the new technologies working in concert to improve productivity and workflow.’
Bryan Godwyn, IFS joint managing director, added, ‘The BQ280 will pick up where the BQ270 left off. The world’s best-selling single clamp perfect binder has been installed by more than 150 UK printers since it was launched in 2002. We expect it will prove to be a crucial entry model for the digital and litho crossover sweetspot in what is a really burgeoning marketplace for short run perfect bound books.’
