With greater digital production capacity coming on stream through investment in HP Indigo presses, Pureprint Group has now extended its digital finishing capabilities with the arrival of a Horizon BQ470 perfect binder and HT30 robotic three-side trimmer from IFS.
The company already has a Muller Martini PUR line but the new equipment gives it greater flexibility in handling different run lengths in its dedicated digital area. Production director Ian Godden said the impact has been immediate: ‘We can now get work in and out of the bindery very smoothly. Previously we had to put the work in the van and send it up the road to another site to be finished. Now it is all done in one place. Short runs are in and out now and that has opened up some capacity for us. We can handle variable data work much more easily now.
‘We can do runs of one or up to 10,000. We can also interrupt longer runs to complete a fast turnaround job – which we couldn’t do before as it was too disruptive.’
