Chichester’s Selsey Press has purchased a Morgana DigiFold combined creasing and folding unit machine, which will allow it to cope with both processes in one go.
David Lamdin, a director of Selsey Press, said: ‘The combination of creasing and folding thicker stock in one unit is a tremendous time saver for us. The creasing element is an essential step when folding heavier weight stocks. Standard buckle folders are not suited to handling these materials. We had been using a Morgana AutoCreaser and then hand folding sheets – not the most time-efficient of solutions. The new machine will handle this work in one pass, and it will also be able to process the majority of our short-run folding work a lot more effectively than the larger machines.’
While the company’s heavier duty folding equipment can take up to 15 minutes to set-up, which is fine for long runs, the DigiFold takes just a minute for standard sized work, making it much more suitable for the shorter run work that is more typical of digital print orders.
Selsey Press, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, produces both digital and litho print – creating both to ISO 12647-2 standards – with Xerox digital equipment working alongside two of the latest Komori Lithrone five-colours and a Heidelberg six-colour B2 press. The company offers a complete package of services, starting from concept and design, through prepress to printing via litho or digital, finishing and binding, to packing and mailing.
