Nutan Printers has seen a dramatic jump in demand for lamination following its investment in a Foliant Mercury 530SF laminator from Intelligent Finishing Systems.
The company produces a wide range of commercial print for local businesses in market sectors including finance, aerospace and defence. Alongside its digital print capabilities it runs a number of Heidelberg presses including a five colour Speedmaster 52.
‘We have already seen a 50% increase in the amount we are doing,’ explained Reg Rathod, co-founder.
‘That is down to the fact we are doing more work that we wouldn’t have done before either because the run was too short and too costly to outsource or because it was an urgent job and we didn’t have time. No longer relying on a third party means we can offer lamination on all work and keep the costs in house.’
Driving the investment decision was a rise in customer requests for lamination following the addition of a Konica Minolta bizhub six months ago. ‘The new press meant more and more customers wanted short-run fast turnaround lamination. Sending it out took time and was costly,’ said Mr Rathod.
Before deciding on the Foliant Mr Rathod reviewed alternative options, he added. ‘We liked the Foliant’s ease of operation and we believed the build quality was better. We have worked with IFS for a long time and if they have chosen to represent Foliant then we trust the system will meet our expectations.
‘We are already seeing the benefit of being able to offer it on the jobs we have. It will definitely help us to keep customers who may have been tempted to go elsewhere for their lamination and it will help us win new work. We expect to achieve ROI in under three years.’
