Mark Bidewell of Bison Print with the new guillotine
An increase in productivity has followed the delivery of a new Ideal 5222 Digicut guillotine to the HQ of Bison Print, situated in Maidstone, Kent.
‘We’re really impressed with the increase in productivity and improved quality that we have gained from the guillotine’ said Mark Bidewell, managing director at Bison Print.
‘The previous guillotine was really good but we found that work was often getting bottle necked at the finishing stage which triggered this investment’.
Mr Bidewell claims that the guillotine has almost doubled the company’s productivity
Originally the company ordered a 4860 model and was in line to be one of the first companies to own one. However, one of the company’s stipulations was that the guillotine was modified so that it had side tables, providing more space to work efficiently.
Unfortunately it turned out that the 4860 could not be modified so at the eleventh hour Bison and supplier Presco negotiated a deal on the bigger model.
Mr Bidewell added, ‘Although the 5222 was a lot more money it turned out to be a blessing in disguise as we are already benefiting from the extra cutting space and foot clamping facility the 5222 has.’
This is the second Ideal guillotine the company has purchased; the previous was a 4850-EP which it owned from new and which worked hard for the past five years. Mr Bidewell concluded, ‘We have always been really happy with both Ideal as a manufacturer and Presco as a supplier, so it made good business sense to partner with both again.’
