‘Web-to-production’ software Catfish from ISL has taken Slough company X1 beyond printed products, adding more functionality than its previous web to print system offered.
The company specialises in litho printing, digital printing, branding and design work for print. The company also offers fulfilment and procurement services, direct mail services and print audits. Digital print has been a key focus for the company for the past nine years with its web-to-print services expanding steadily for the past four years and it will also use the system for all its print estimating work
Tim Lance, sales and finance director said, ‘It was the perfect choice for us. ISL’s team has a thorough understanding of the print market and understood our needs exactly. The service itself delivers all the functionality we had before plus much more. We will be moving all 58 customers over to it by the end of this month and I think they will really benefit from its easy of use and extended capabilities. We refer to the system as delivering web-to-production since it can be used for far more that just printed products.’
The company explains the process in the following way. For a UK and European motor industry customer, it is using the system to offer paint protection products for new cars that dealers across the UK order online. The company then produces bespoke orders despatching them within 48 hours of the order being placed. The ‘shipped’ email notifies the client ‘their order is on its way’. The dealer can also access Catfish to order traditional printed brochures as well as pre-branded items such as USB sticks, mugs, pens and trolley key rings etc.
‘We really like how web-to-production links the customer to us and ensures they feel at home. It frees us to spend more time on the more ‘bespoke’ needs of our customers,’ added Mr Lance. ‘We’ve also just won the business of an estate agency customer to Catfish and they’re delighted. They first came to us because their previous print provider, whilst being a bit cheaper, delivered a poor service with too long deadlines. We’re now producing brochures and window cards for two offices, which will soon be expanded to all 11 offices across the UK. Catfish automates all the proofing and print processes and we can then guarantee delivery schedules are met.’
