The single engine CiPress waterless inkjet web from Xerox.
Xerox has announced new single engine configurations of its CiPress waterless inkjet web presses at the Hunkeler Innovationdays event. The CiPress 500 and 325 Single Engine Duplex (SED) systems pack many of the same features as the original twin engine devices have into a smaller footprint.
The presses can print duplex jobs one-up on a narrow web (241 mm, or 9.5 inches) at up to 152 metres (500 feet) or 100 metres (325 feet) per minute respectively. They have built-in automated closed loop self-correcting controls to improve up-time, and use the company’s FreeFlow Print Server to handle complex variable data jobs. As with the twin engine devices, the waterless inks enable printing on low cost, plain papers, and an ink optimisation mode reduces the amount of ink coverage on pages that have more text and fewer graphics.
Suitable for such applications as books, direct marketing, transactional and catalogues, the CiPress SEDs will be available for customer deliveries in April 2013.
