Hunkeler Innovationdays 2013 is the 10th iteration of this popular event. Having grown substantially from its creation in 1994, the show is now housed in the Messe Lucerne in Switzerland.

With around 70 exhibitors and the promise of several premieres of new machinery, the show hosts a number of interesting opportunities for visitors.

Showing applications across transactional and transpromo printing, print on-demand books and newspapers, and direct mail production, it will also host integrated total solutions that address every aspect of the workflow.

There will also be live demonstrations across every segment, including packaging, to give visitors the opportunity to see new technology in action.

Lots of big names will be on show including Kodak, Canon, Ricoh, Xerox, Screen, HP, Pitney Bowes, Impika, Heidelberg, Muller Martini, KBA, Muller Martini and Friedheim International partners Wohlenberg, Kama, Herzog+Heymann, Bograma and many more.

Hunkeler’s show highlights:

The launch of the first modules of the next generation Hunkeler high performance finishing machines (details available at the show). Other highlights:

Ricoh: Will demonstrate its digital production print portfolio including the InfoPrint 5000 GP shown for the first time in Europe with the Extended Media Dryer option. Read more

Canon: Will highlight print applications and illustrate new ways in which customers can enhance their businesses, increase productivity and turnover and develop new markets. The centrepiece of its stand will be the Océ ColorStream 3900. Read more

Mondi: Is to present its expanded high speed inkjet portfolio, which comprises a comprehensive offering of grammages and shades for this growing market. Read more 

Muller Martini: Will present a new industrial finishing solution for digitally printed products in the form of the Presto II Digital saddlestitcher. Read more

W+D: Showcasing its mail solutions portfolio with four key products, including the Timos Totally Integrated Mail Output Solution. Read more

Freidheim International: Herzog & Heymann, Bograma, Wohlenberg, Kama, and other partners of Friedheim International will display a range of finishing equipment. Read more

Kodak: Will be announcing exciting news on its Prosper Press, plus the Nexpress will demonstrate the impact of its Long Sheet option on job flexibility and throughput. Read more

Mitsubishi HiTec Papers Europe: Will now offer Jetscript ML 9084, a coated inkjet paper that is specifically designed for envelopes. Read more

Impika: Will show flexible cutstack, newspaper and booklet production in a combination line with two side full colour printing on the iPrint Compact.

Xerox: Will highlight full colour transpromo production on a CiPress 500 SED (Single Engine Duplex), with a speed of 150 metres per minute.

Screen: Will run monochrome roll to roll printing on the Truepress 520EX processing book signatures with near line processing. It will also show roll to roll printing on a Truepress Jet520ZZ, for full colour production of signatures with a web speed of 220 metres per minute. Read more

HP: Running on an HP Indigo w7250, the company will show a range of full colour applications such as photo books, book jackets, postcards and mailpieces.

Xeikon: Running on a Xeikon 8000, the company will show full colour security printing applications with laser punching. Read more

Graph-Tech: Will show roll to roll printing on its Monocube.

Heidelberg: Will highlight short run book production, with customised perfect bound brochures.

GUK: Will show a multifold system for package inserts – the GUK FA 54 pocket folding system. Package inserts with full bleed designs are possible.

KBA: Will run a Rotajet 76 allowing full colour at 150 metres per minute. With roll to roll production, the machine allows the delivery of printed rolls in 30 inch format for book block production and in 26 inch format for newspaper lines.

Horizon: The Horizon stand will host options for stitching, perfect binding and three knife cutting on-demand.

Meccano Tecnica: At the show the company will focus on its Universe sewing, which is part of the Universe Digitaline that encompasses a complete range of machines that produce a finished book starting from digitally printed sheets through four steps – thread sewing, pressing and end papering, binding and trimming.
