Cambridge based Quadraproof has become the latest user of the ECRM small format full colour digital printing device, the DPP1200, from ECRM UK distributor Apex Digital Graphics.

Owner Doug Doig said, ‘Typically run lengths are just 300 or 400 copies – if we were to set up a litho press to print these we just wouldn’t be economical.’

The ECRM device joins two Ryobi presses at the company, and represents Quadraproof’s first digital print investment. ‘We are traditional litho printers. We trade on our print quality and our attention to detail. We firmly believe that our print quality is superior to that of the digital devices, however, we cannot ignore the needs of our customers. The DPP1200 provides a great short run solution. Whilst we have used a nearby digital printer for this type of work in the past, the quality was just not up to our normal litho standards. The ECRM unit provides us with a good solution for our current needs, and sits comfortably with existing ECRM platemaking solution and our Ryobi machines.’

The majority of work at the company is produced on the two Ryobi presses – a 522HX two colour machine and a 524HXX four colour press. Plate production equipment is also supplied by Apex in the shape of an ECRM DPX System.
