The new Impala arrived gift wrapped for the Christmas season.
Europe’s largest photo service company said it’s revved up and ready for yuletide business following the installation of a fourth swissQprint Impala large format printer. This went into operation at the CEWE plant in Germering near Munich early in December.
Next to its usual photo product offerings, CEWE has offered large format prints in a variety of sizes since 2011. It prints with UV inkjets directly onto acrylic glass, Dibond and rigid foam panels.
All four of the Impala printers are identically configured so can be used interchangeably. Of the nine colour channels on each machine, eight are in use for CMYK plus light cyan, light magenta and light black for natural-looking skin tones, plus a white masking coat for application to acrylic glass. Each machine can also handle roll media such as canvas and similar stocks.
The company’s heaviest workload comes in the run up to Christmas. The make-or-break factors with pre-Christmas business especially are achieving the best possible picture quality, reliable logistics, and meeting the promised delivery dates. The company offers a colourful array of products from photo albums, calendars and greetings cards, up to large canvases and posters for style-conscious homemakers.
