Fujifilm is running this demo Jet Press 720 at its European showroom near Brussels.
The first two European orders for the Fujifilm Jet Press 720 sheetfed inkjet press have been announced, going to so far unnamed printers in Austria and France.
The company said that this brings the total sold worldwide to 19, following the announcement at drupa 2012 of the first nine machines in Japan, USA and Canada, followed by more since the show. Although first shown as a prototype at drupa 2008, the press only reached the first commercial users last year in Japan and the USA, while sales in Europe officially started at drupa 2012.
‘The sale of two Jet Press 720 presses in Europe validates the high level of interest that we saw at drupa earlier this year,’ said Yasufumi Morimoto, senior vice president of Fujifilm Europe. ‘Both of these printers were impressed by the outstanding quality and productivity of the Jet Press 720 and we are confident that the introduction of the press to their businesses will help them reap the benefit of new printing applications and realise greater profit potential.’
The Jet Press 720 is a four colour B2 format digital inkjet press for speeds up to 2700 B2 simplex sheets an hour. The official price is about £1.2 million. By applying a primer to the sheet prior to imaging, it can print onto standard offset coated and specified uncoated papers, according to the manufacturer.
The first two European presses will be installed in early 2013, after which Fujifilm said it will release more details.
