UniFoilPrinter is a desktop foil printer from Unibind, intended to produce single copies and short run bespoke designs for use on book covers and the like. Controlled by software, there’s no need for tools or dies.
The device can print on a variety of items, including finished books such as planners, journals, diaries, wedding albums, yearbooks; photo items such as photographs and photo mats; greeting cards; gift boxes; advertising speciality items and gifts. According to Unibind it has proved successful on surfaces such as cloth, linen, leather and acetate. It’s small enough to be used in an office.
The machine takes 64 mm wide foil rolls, in gold, silver, blue and red. Features include automatic aligning of the print head using Unibind’s special PC Tool software.
It costs £8495 and the rolls are £49.95 each.
Tsol Keoshgerian, managing director of Unibind, said: ‘In a stroke, the UniFoilPrinter opens up new markets for foil printing which previously was only viable for print runs in excess of 500.
‘With our new product, key customers such as copyshops and commercial printers can now offer foil printing for individual or short print runs. The machine is also very user friendly thanks to software which allows users to upload artwork to the machine.
‘The printer allows us to enhance our photobook and yearbook products by allowing customers to choose a foil finish on a single piece.’
Unibind, which employs 50 people, has launched a new digital arm from its base on the Graylands Business Park in Horsham. Mr Keoshgerian recently took control of the company by buying 100% of the shares.
