Colorific, which supplies inks for large format printers, is hosting a series of briefings for distributors and end users at its offices in Maidenhead, to highlight its new UV Light ink conversions for solvent printers. They will be held on 11, 12 and 13 December between 10 am and 5 pm. Ffurther dates will be announced in the New Year.
UV Light technology was launched at EcoPrint in Berlin in September and demonstrated at the European Viscom sign shows, where it generated significant interest from end users, distributors and other potential business partners. The company said it is now working with two large print systems integrators in Europe and orders for demonstration units have already been placed.
The system enables wide format printer owners to convert their existing solvent printers to its UV Light inks, which Colorific claims are ‘greener.’ It is currently compatible with any Roland wide format machine that uses Epson Piezo DX4 and DX5 print head technologies, Colorific UV Light is a hybrid solution is said to combine the reliability of an eco solvent ink with the print performance of a UV ink. ‘The ink offers superb media adhesion and stunning durability, yet has a significantly lower carbon footprint than eco-solvent inks and contains no VOCs,’ said the company.
An important part of the new system is the UV Lightbar System , which comprises an external, standalone lamp kit which fixes to the front of any compatible wide format printer. The ink is printed onto the media, then a secondary cure using the UV Lightbar, fixes the droplets and provides an immediate cure and cross link on the media.
Shaun Holdom, business manager for Colorific, said: ‘We’ll be demonstrating this process on Roland RE and Roland RS printers at the technology briefing and will also run through a short presentation explaining the process in more detail. Attendees will also have plenty of opportunity to discuss the technology in more depth with key members of Colorific’s team if there are any specific questions they would like addressed.’
