Vivid Laminating Technologies celebrates its 25th anniversary this month.

The Leicestershire based equipment designer and manufacturer said it has gone from strength to strength during its first quarter century. Since it started to design its own system it claims to have become Europe’s market leader in its field.

Managing director Martin Evans said: ‘Over the past 25 years we have seen a lot of changes in the finishing industry and one of the reasons behind our success has been keeping one step ahead of the competition. We have listened to what our customers want and developed systems to fulfill their needs.’

Vivid’s Matrix family of compact, affordable sheetfed laminators are particularly popular with digital printers with short run and quick turnaround needs, as they allow them to bring short run laminating in-house rather than wait for outside finishing services. Matrix models are available to take film widths from 340 up to 700 mm wide. Until now these have all had semi-automatic stream feeders, but at drupa the company showed a prototype automatic pile feeder for the Matrix 530 to allow longer unattended operations, which is just becoming available. This takes stacks of sheets up to 80 mm high in weights from 160 to 350 g/m2. It takes sizes from 200 x 300 mm up to 500 x 620 mm and features a new control panel to set it up.

The anniversary falls on a successful year for Vivid, which has launched a range of new laminating systems and executed a re-brand of its premium laminating supplies, which are now called Boss. Later this month it is travelling to the SGIA exhibition in Las Vegas to show its wares at what will be at its second major US printing exhibition.

‘Here’s to the next 25 years!’ said Mr Evans.
