This week’s Graph Expo show in Chicago sees the announcement of a new low cost digital print system from Xanté. The Impressia is a toner engine for up to 50 pages per minute speeds, on a variety of media, with resolutions up to 2400 dpi.
So far the company hasn’t said what the maximum paper format is. However, it is said to be suited to full colour letterheads, cards, envelopes, forms, brochures, mailers, labels and banners. An 80 GB hard drive is fitted internally. Warm-up time is said to be less than a minute and the time to the first colour print is eight seconds when warm.
Prices start at $8995 (about £5600) including a site license for Xante’s high end iQueue 7 Ultimate workflow, up to $15,995 (about £10,000) for a fully specified system with all options including a conveyor. The iQueue 7 Ultimate Workflow automates digital prepress production from multiple user workstations and supports variable data.
The iQueue’s colour management allows the matching of spot colours to CMYK values, aided by a wide colour gamut from the printer’s HD small-particle toner. There is support for Pantone, ColorSync, ICM and custom ICC profiles.
‘Advancements are allowing us to change the rules of the game,’ says Robert Ross, CEO and founder of Xanté. ‘We’re in a time when productivity and price point are the most critical factors for buyers. Impressia gives any sized shop the edge they need to deliver product quickly and profitably to their customers, all while maintaining the highest quality standards.’
Xanté makes printer controllers and buys in core engines from third parties. Its Illumina series small digital toner presses are based on OKI engines, although it says these are built to its own specification. So far it has not revealed the basis or full specification of the Impressia models.
