A second generation of Canon’s imageRunner Advance light production colour multifunctional printers has been announced, available in the UK during October and November.
There are six new models, offering improved access control, personalisation and service efficiency, as well as mobile and cloud connectivity, through a new suite of standard and optional software applications. Features that were previously optional, such as searchable scan file formats and secure hard disk erase, are now standard.
Speeds are from 20 to 70 pages per minute in colour and 55 to 105 ppm in colour.
A simple server-less log-in solution, Universal Login Manager, is available on all models. This uses proximity cards or picture logins for walk-up use. It also enables users, through device personalisation, to automate commonly performed tasks for enhanced productivity. Larger organisations and more demanding environments can access enterprise-level control, management and data loss prevention services through Canon’s uniFlow platform solution.
There’s also solutions that integrate with cloud-based workflows and support mobile working, for which there is growing demand. According to IDC, 52% of people who use smartphones for work said they can’t currently print from their device[3], but want to and the worldwide mobile worker population is predicted to account for 37.2% of the workforce by 2015
‘Organisations are under increasing pressure to be more agile and productive, while at the same time reduce operational costs,’ says Matt Wrighton, OIP Product Management & Strategy, Canon Europe. ‘The new generation of imageRunner Advance directly addresses these challenges by enabling smarter ways of working through increased personalisation, usage control as well as cloud connectivity and mobile working.
‘The new platform strengthens Canon’s ability to provide a complete imaging solution to organisations of all sizes. Small businesses will benefit from enterprise level capabilities such as heightened security, effective control of print costs and powerful document publishing tools, while enterprise customers and large organisations can utilise a scalable imaging solution with advanced security, integration and fleet management at its heart.’
A new publishing tool allows important documents to be finished in-house. Canon’s iW Desktop Quick Printing Tool, which sits on the desktop, provides access to preview documents, applies finishing templates and creates PDFs. For more advanced capabilities, iW Desktop offers drag and drop working to combine and create documents, before editing, personalising and previewing.
The imageRunner Advance C5200, 6200 and 8200 models will be available in the UK and Ireland during October. The C2200, C7200 and C9200 series will be available from November. All software will be available in the UK & Ireland from October 2012, with the exception of eCopy Scan to Cloud and Canon Mobile Printing, which will be available in Q4 and December 2012 respectively.
