Yasufumi Morimoto has been appointed as senior vice president of Fujifilm Europe, with overall responsibility for the Graphic Systems Division in Europe.
This move coincides with the creation of a new Fujifilm organisation in Japan called the Fujifilm Global Graphic Systems Company Ltd (FFGS), which began trading on 1 October. In addition to his appointment as the head of the Graphic Systems business in Europe, Mr Morimoto has also been assigned as a board member of the new company in Japan.
FFGS has been formed by the integration of three organisations: Fujifilm Graphic Systems Co Ltd., a sales, marketing and technical services subsidiary for the Japanese market, Fujifilm Simple Products Co Ltd, a development and sales subsidiary for domestic print production workflow software and Fujifilm Corporation’s Graphic Systems Business Division, responsible for the global development of products for the Graphics market.
The company said that the integration of these three formerly separate businesses will strengthen its ability to market Graphic Systems products worldwide. The new company will be responsible for sales, marketing and technical support worldwide.
Mr Morimoto first joined Fujifilm in 1984 and spent 18 years working in new product development, evaluation and quality assurance, spending some of this time at the Ashigara plate manufacturing facility. From 2002 to 2012 he was responsible for technical support and new product planning for graphics products at the Graphic Systems Division in Tokyo.
Earlier this year he moved to Düsseldorf to take up his new role of senior vice president of Fujifilm Europe GmbH, succeeding Ryuta Masui, in preparation for his place on the board of the newly formed FFGS company and head of the European Graphic Division.
