Mailing solutions company Neopost has bought GMC Software Technology, which specialises in high end document generation and management for paper mail, e-mail, fax, text messages and social networks. The company will remain as an independent company within the Neopost group.

‘This is a very important step that has been taken with upmost care and consideration for all employees, customers and partners,’ said Dr René Müller, CEO of GMC. ‘As neither of my two daughters showed any interest in taking the reins at GMC, the acquisition by Neopost ensures the future of GMC and the future of everybody connected with GMC Software Technology, which is a very important factor to me personally.’ Mr Müller will remain as CEO and board member for a minimum of a year.

Based in Switzerland since its foundation in 1994, GMC Software Technology now has a presence in over 20 countries in Europe, America and Asia. It employs more than 300 people, including 130 engineers. It has more than 1000 clients around the world who can produce in excess of 100 million personalised documents per month.Customers include print service providers, banking and insurance, retail, business services, telecommunications, utilities and health services.

GMC Software Technology has been achieving double-digit revenue growth for several years, which it attributes to its strategy of development among print service providers and more recently with banks, insurance companies and other vertical markets. In 2011, it reported revenues of 42 million Swiss francs (£27.4 million) from the sale of software licenses, contracts for the implementation of tailored solutions and annual maintenance contracts.

‘Over the last few years GMC Software Technology have worked with Neopost and concluded with them two significant contracts: a value-added reseller contract and an OEM contract. During this time and the recent negotiations I have got to know Neopost well and I have learned a lot about their people, their culture and their ambitions. These are some of the reasons why I believe Neopost is the best fit GMC could ever get.’
