ArtSystems has introduced two print finishing trimmers it reckons are particularly suited to use with the HP Latex printers that it also distributes.
The Xativa AutoTrim XY and the Xativa Textile Super Trim are made in Italy and carry a one-year onsite warranty provided by ArtSystems’ Service and Technical division.
AutoTrim XY is an automatic trimmer for sheets and rolls up to 1650 mm wide. It can cut simultaneously on all four sides. An optical sensor reads a range of marks to align the cuts in both dimensions. It can handle media including photo paper, vinyl, banner, polyester, polycarbonate film and others. The alignment technology optimises straightness and gives rapid roll loading, cutter positioning and accurate cutting.
The Xativa Textile Super Trim is an electric cutter with independent rotary blade which can be heated up to 350 °C. It’s particularly suitable to cut natural and synthetic fabrics with bi-directional cut. The cutting carriage has a variable speed for different kinds of materials, ideal for soft signage applications that require real post production. Models are available in 1650, 2800 and 3400 mm widths.
‘We wanted to offer our resellers additional print finishing options to address problems such as bottleneck delays, which can occur during busy production runs,’ said Andrew Edwards, sign and display divisional manager of ArtSystems. ‘Modern wide format printers like the HP Latex L26500 can produce high volumes of print but if these cannot be finished with the same speed and quality then there is a danger that the productivity gains can be lost. The new Xativa trimmers are manufactured to the highest quality in Italy, we then cover the warranty here in the UK.’
* ArtSystems has also now received ISO 9001 accreditation for its technical services operations. It has had ISO 9001 accreditation since the 1990s for its sales and delivery processes. The new process passed on first inspection.
‘We knew that extending the ISO 9001 quality processes to our Technical Services would be challenging,’ said operations director Simon Cooksey. ‘They involve perhaps the most complex set of customer and supplier interactions we engage in. As the service provider for example of all HP Latex printer warranties we have a complex set of communications and SLAs to meet, we deal with the end user customer as HP’s warranty provider, whilst also working with the reseller that supplied the printer and also deal with HP for spares and any further technical questions. Add to this the logistics of parts, engineers and meeting the time constraints of the user it was evident that creating a manageable set of processes was not going to be easy!’
