HP has announced record results at drupa, which it said surpassed any other graphic arts trade show in its history. It took orders from more than 200 customers across 55 countries and said it also had thousands of qualified sales leads.

It said that there were record levels of attendees on its stand, where it made more presentations and live demonstrations than at any previous show.

Demand was especially strong for the new digital printing solutions, including the HP Indigo 7600 Digital Press, the T410 colour inkjet web press, the HP Scitex FB7600 industrial press and the Print Module Solutions. There was also said to be strong interest in the ‘next-generation’ solutions, including the B2 format HP Indigo 10000 in advance of its early 2013 release date.

The largest drupa order was an agreement with Consolidated Graphics to purchase 11 of the forthcoming sheet fed B2 HP Indigo 10000s, including one of the first beta systems to be installed.

German photo products specialist CeWe Color also made a significant purchase, buying two HP Indigo W7250 web fed digital presses as well as a sheet fed 7600. Italian firm Rotomail acquired an HP Indigo W7250 and a T410 colour inkjet web press. Rotolito Lombarda, a sister company to Rotomail, also purchased a T410.

Sales of the sales of the HP Scitex FB7600 flatbed inkjet industrial press were made to UK-based FastAnt and TB Screen in Sweden.

‘Once again, drupa proved to be a fantastic event for HP and, as always, we enjoyed a high level of interaction with print service providers from day one,’ said Manel Martinez, vice president and general manager, HP Graphic Solutions Business, EMEA.

‘The positive reaction to our transformative innovations saw us surpass targets for the show during its initial phase, underscoring the impressive attributes of digital technology and the continued move by customers to deploy it for mainstream applications.’
