Xerox is launching two new production presses at drupa. The iGen 150 is a new high speed, high quality flagship for its toner press line. CiPress 325 is an entry level for the new ‘waterless’ inkjet web press series that was first announced with the CiPress 500 model.

The iGen 150 is 25% faster than previous models, delivering 3000 sheets per hour on the 660 mm long sheet size. It uses new image-on-image  technology and matte dry ink for vivid colour digital prints.

Features include:

• A new 2,400 x 2,400 dpi imaging system – the most precise resolution
available on an iGen system to date. New line screen delivers refined
shape, sharp detail and text quality.
• An Auto Density Control System detects and corrects streaks before
they occur.
• Automated Colour Maintenance replaces and eliminates manual steps
by analysing colour and notifying the operator when the press is ready for
production.

The press can handle a range of paper stocks such as textured, translucent and heavy cover-weight papers. Print providers can easily create mixed paper jobs such as direct-mail campaigns with tear-out reply postcards or
wedding albums.

The iGen 150 will be available for order taking in July and installation from later in quarter three 2012.

The CiPress 325 is aimed at printers with lower average monthly page volumes, the twin-engine device makes it easier to enter the burgeoning high-speed inkjet market. It runs at 100 metres per minute and prints at 600 x 600 dpi resolution for marketing materials, transpromo jobs, catalogues and manuals.

Features and benefits of the CiPress 325 include:

• Upgradeable – Users can enhance the system from 100 to 152 metres per minute through a software licence, which increases productivity as page volume grows.

• Fast processing – Xerox’s FreeFlow  Print Server handles complex variable jobs without sacrificing print speed. Users can configure their  digital front engine to meet their job processing requirements.

• Sustainability – Xerox’s granulated, resin-based ink formulation makes it simpler to deink prints for recycling, it claimed. It has received the highest deinkability rating (‘Good’) from INGEDE, a group of European paper
manufacturers representing the International Association of the Deinking Industry.

In addition to unveiling the new device, Xerox also enhanced its CiPress 500 Production Inkjet System with an ink optimisation mode. Users can reduce the amount of ink coverage on pages that have more text and fewer graphics, such as transactional pieces.
