A ten-fold increase in print speed and use of what is described as the lowest cost industrial dye-sub printer on the market – these are the benefits that Walsall-based Colour Graphics is gaining from its new Vutek FabriVu 340, which it purchased from CMYUK.
The 3.4-metre wide FabriVu has been brought in to replace an older Mtex system. Printing at up to 500 square metres per hour, the system has a highest resolution of 2400 dpi and can handle a variety of paper and fabrics. At Colour Graphics it has been purchased alongside a Klieverik calendar unit (also from CMYUK), allowing dye-sublimation transfer printing (paper to textile) with absolute precision, as well as dye fixation of direct printed dispersed dyes or pigments.
‘We now print at ten times the speed of the Mtex, meaning we can print through a range of jobs onto backlit, blockout, stretch and standard display materials,’ said Colour Graphics owner James Birch. ‘In the last three years we have seen the soft signage/dye sublimation sector double year-on-year, and we are expecting this to continue.’
According to Wes Small, senior digital sales consultant at CMYUK, the FabriVu 340 is a unique product: ‘It is the highest productivity machine in its field, at an affordable price. When you factor in the attractive ink price, along with exceptional ink yield, you have the lowest cost industrial dye-sub machine on the market, nothing can touch it.’
The Vutek machine has helped Colour Graphics develop a one-stop shop for trade TFS fabric exhibition and display systems.
