ColorGate is well-regarded for its wide-format RIP and colour management software.
Ricoh has continued to extend its market coverage with the acquisition of ColorGate Digital Output Solutions, developer of wide-format RIP and colour management software. The acquisition is intended to strengthen Ricoh’s growth in industrial printing, as reported in Digital Printer‘s October 2018 issue.
The German software firm has been in the print sector for more than 20 years and has an extensive customer base across Europe. Its colour management technology within the ColorGate Productionserver RIP family supports printing and decoration on a wide range of materials, including packaging, floor and wall coverings, textiles and signage.
Ricoh’s growth plan in industrial printing also recently saw it announce the acquisition of LAC Corporation, a company with inkjet technology for printing on three-dimensional surfaces such as on the sides of cars, trucks, aircraft, tyres and glass bottles. Ricoh has established a Global IP Technology Centre and Global IP Marketing Centre in Europe with the aim of driving marketing, strategic planning and business and product development with its alliance partners.
‘By combining ColorGate’s proprietary software technology with our own industrial printers, Ricoh will provide solutions covering the whole printing workflow from prepress to post-press,’ said Peter Williams, corporate vice president and general manager of Ricoh’s Commercial and Industrial Printing Business Group
‘This acquisition will enable ColorGate to expand its industrial printing business and global presence as together we become better able to support our customers to accelerate their transition from analogue to digital-based production.’
