Friedheim reported strong interest at The Print Show in the Zechini range for short run books, especially from digital print customers

Berkhamsted-based commercial printer The Print Centre (TPC) has brought lamination in house by installing a new Komfi Delta 52 industrial thermal laminator from Friedheim International.

The laminator, which was purchased for just under £35,000, was installed at the end of August.

Ben Nixon, managing director, said, ‘With our previous laminator being quite labour intensive, we wanted something which would reduce our turnaround times, especially for the urgent litho and digital jobs we have. This laminator is more of an industrial work horse, with some nice features which will add a lot of value not only to our print but let our staff get on with other jobs.’

The Komfi joins the company’s 600sqm production unit in its finishing room which includes a Duplo 600i high volume booklet maker, a Polar guillotine, and a Heidelberg cylinder B2 die-cutter and creaser. The Komfi replaces a small desktop unit that will be sold onwards. The digital room consists of Konica Minolta 1085 Press and Konica Minolta Biz Hub 6000L Pro. The litho room includes a five-colour B2 Heidelberg SM 74 CP 2000 along with a B3 Heidelberg GTO52.

Mr Nixon continued, ‘We have a lot of production capacity so most of the work is kept in house now. It allows us to keep track, control costs and timings – the Komfi allows us to do that better than the last laminator we had.’

Simon Cox, Friedheim’s sales specialist said, ‘The Komfi Delta 52 will fit right into the ethos of The Print Centre. One of the things that they needed was an automatic sheet separator which their previous machine didn’t have, they found it in the Komfi.’

Friedheim also sold two Zechini Roby casemakers at The Print Show last week, to fellow exhibitor Precision Colour, who bought the Roby Junior 2 display unit off the stand, plus a Roby Zero joystick-operated model for later delivery.
