Cornish print shop Kitz Katz has acquired a 460 Z5 programmable guillotine from Gaps UK suitable for cutting sheets up to SRA2, replacing an unreliable older unit.
Based in Looe, Kitz Katz Print Shop has been supplying books, magazines, greeting cards, signs and other print items to businesses and the public since 2000. It has Canon and Ricoh digital presses.
‘Recently our old guillotine had become very temperamental and at the beginning of December, halfway through a very urgent order of a 410pp book, it finally gave up completely,’ explained Steve Beresford, owner of the print shop. ‘I knew Gaps UK supplied a range of finishing equipment as they had sourced some blades for my old machine as well as supplying our lamination film.
‘I spoke to Gary Cheverall at Gaps UK and we quickly agreed on which of his guillotines would be the right one for us and having already checked out other suppliers and prices I was very happy with the deal depending on when they could deliver.
‘Gaps UK pulled out all the stops to deliver from their base in Essex to Cornwall for 10am the next working day. The machine was assembled with the help of a customer and I finished trimming the books a few minutes later. The customer was happy and the 460 Z5 has worked faultlessly since then. It needed no adjustments and took about 30 minutes from delivery to production.’
