Langham Press has invested in a Horizon SPF-200L bookletmaker from Intelligent Finishing Systems. The commercial printer offers a wide range of digital and litho printing, and has brought in the bookletmaker to help it handle growing digital print volumes.
The Cambridge-based company works with businesses, charities, educational establishments, designers, and publishers, as well as many departments within the University of Cambridge. Using a B2 Komori press and its Develop Ineo+ 6100 digital press it produces a range of products from leaflets, posters, stationery and booklets to reports, magazines, brochures and prospectuses.
‘We have recently invested in our digital print department and are managing more and more short-run fast turnaround stitched work,’ explained production manager Kevin Saunders. ‘A lot of the stitching, folding and creasing was being done by hand. At the same time one of the team left and instead of replacing them, which is not always an easy task, we thought the money could be better spent on a new system that would stitch and fold in one process.’
As well as stitching and folding the bookletmaker incorporates the ability to feed A4 landscape sheets up to 640mm long. The JDF-ready system offers instant set-ups via a large icon-based colour touchscreen for user-friendly operation. The screen can be used for on-the-run fine tune adjustments as well as the storage and recall of up to 200 jobs.
