Welsh print group Zenith has purchased three Versafire digital presses from Heidelberg.
A Versafire EP and five-colour Versafire EV have arrived at the company’s Pontypool plant and a four-colour Versafire EV will be installed in the repro department in June.
The machines replace three Ricoh presses, joining an existing Heidelberg Linoprint CV.
‘By taking the Heidelberg digital presses we can run with their dedicated Digital Front End,’ explained group managing director John Mooney. ‘We have the advantage of their colour know-how and use our Prinect software to output as easily to the digital presses as we can to the litho presses. Plus, we trust the advice and support we receive from Heidelberg.’
Zenith has invested heavily in its commercial and packaging side of the business over the past 18 months. In that time a B1 Speedmaster XL 106-8-P Push-to-Stop press, a hybrid Speedmaster XL 106-5+LX3, a Stahlfolder BH56 and a Promatrix 106FC foiling and cutting device have all arrived in Wales.
